Freddie Jackson Obituary

Freddie Ray Jackson, born on May 23, 1962, in Mansfield, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at his home in Washington, D.C. on August 26, 2024. He was the beloved and only son of Mrs. Elnora Jackson Green.

Freddie's faith journey began early in life, as he received Christ at St. James A.M.E. Church in Mansfield. He attended school in the DeSoto Parish school system, where he discovered his love for music, proudly playing the tuba in his high school marching band.

After high school, Freddie began his service to his country by joining the Louisiana National Guard. He continued his service in the United States Army, where he courageously served several combat tours in Afghanistan. Upon completing his military service, Freddie first made his home in Atlanta, Georgia, before eventually settling in Washington, D.C.

Freddie was a man of many passions. He loved music, cooking, decorating, and entertaining friends. His constant companion was his beloved dog, Oreo, whom he spoiled endlessly. Freddie also enjoyed biking around the city, taking in the historical monuments that were so meaningful to him. A lifelong dream came true for Freddie as he traveled the world, exploring the foreign lands he once only imagined while listening to radio stories as a boy.

Freddie leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory: his mother, Mrs. Elnora Jackson Green, his sisters: Ms. Linda Green, Ms. Gwendolyn Green, and Ms. Britney Green—all of Mansfield, Louisiana—and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will deeply miss him.

Freddie’s laughter and bold spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He leaves a legacy of courage, service, and vibrant memories that will endure in the hearts of his family and friends.

A committal service will be held at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery. The date and time to follow.
